VIKING WAY WALKS
The Viking Way is a high-quality, long-distance trail in England between the Humber Bridge, North Lincolnshire, and Oakham, Rutland. The Viking Way is so named because it crosses an area which was occupied by Norse invaders in the 9th century. Many remains from this period have been found in the area that the Viking Way passes through. Villages and towns today still this history in their names-ending with 'by', meaning village, and 'thorp', meaning hamlet.
